 Right on cue, the weather changed into glorious sunshine for our relay across Lac de Neufont at Vergt on the summer solstice. |
 The teams, resplendent, in their costumes assembled at mid-day, much to the amusement not only of our supporters, but also members of the public who had arrived to enjoy a quiet lunchtime, basking in the sun. |
 The teams required only a little encouragement, courtesy of a bit of bubbly kindly supplied by an enthusiastic Phoenix supporter, before dipping their respective paws or webbed feet in the water. The management of the Lake had kindly offered the free use of a couple of pedalos, so each team was accompanied by a “safety boat” ably pedalled by a couple of dogs and ducks. But fortunately, no rescue was required as the dogs, championed by their leader Sheelagh, who literally had the baton (bone) between her teeth, managing somehow to bark at the same time, made the first crossing, challenged by the duck team and several human ducklings, led by Rik. |
 The teams actually managed several relays back and forth across the lake, thus accomplishing their mission to perfection. Some Phoenix supporters had brought along quiches, salad and wine and a glorious picnic was enjoyed by all. |
 We were just sorry that more of you could not be there to join in the fun, but at least you can enjoy some pictures of our antics. |
Thank you again to all who sponsored the teams. When all the money has been collected, we should have raised about 2,500 euros – a great achievement.
